The Shilla Jeju
The Shilla Jeju is at 75 Jungmungwangwang-ro 72beon-gil, Seogwipo-si. According to its official introduction, it opened on July 1, 1990, and has 429 rooms. Because it sits inside the Jungmun Tourist Complex, its location is almost the same as Lotte Hotel Jeju's. This guide therefore compares the two on family facilities and pool terms rather than location. It is also a different property from Parnas Hotel Jeju, covered in the first Jeju guide, and this comparison focuses on facilities by child age rather than on the winter pool itself.

The reason to choose this hotel in winter is its pool setup. According to official information, the family pool is an outdoor heated pool connected to the indoor pool and is open 09:00–23:00 for guests only. The indoor pool is open 07:00–23:00. The adult pool is a separate outdoor pool open only to guests aged 19 and older, so families with children should plan around the family pool and the indoor pool.
Kids facilities are divided by age. Kids Island is free for ages 12 and under, 09:00–19:00, and the Gymboree Kids Club is officially listed for ages 5 and under. The sauna is paid for guests and is listed as opening from 18:00 on the last Wednesday of each month because of scheduled maintenance. Breakfast is served at The Parkview on the third floor, 07:30–10:30, with a guest discount on the buffet.
For airport transfers, official information gives about 40 minutes by taxi and about 70–90 minutes by Limousine Bus 601, which runs every 50 minutes from 06:00 to 21:00. Check-in and check-out times could not be confirmed at the time of writing, so check them on the booking screen. For a stay around Christmas, it is also worth asking about any special hours for the pools and kids facilities.
One more thing before booking
The adult pool is open only to guests aged 19 and older, and the sauna is listed as opening from 18:00 on the last Wednesday of each month because of scheduled maintenance. A stay running to the end of the year would include Wednesday, December 30, so compare this against the itinerary.
Lotte Hotel Jeju
Lotte Hotel Jeju is at 2812-4 Saekdal-dong, Seogwipo-si, inside the Jungmun Tourist Complex. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, it opened in 2000 and has 500 rooms. Rooms are divided into Deluxe, Premier, Character, and Suite categories, with check-in at 15:00, check-out at 11:00, and parking available. The character rooms are the first difference that stands out when choosing with children.
- Location
- 2812-4 Saekdal-dong, Seogwipo-si (Jungmun Tourist Complex)
- Pools
- Outdoor pool He:on (adult pool, family pool, kids pool) · Winter hours not listed in official information, so contacting the hotel is recommended
- With kids
- Character rooms (per the Korea Tourism Organization) · No official operating information for indoor play facilities such as a kids cafe, so check before visiting
- To check
- He:on winter hours and whether it is free for guests · Operating period of the free airport shuttle
The pool is the outdoor He:on, with an adult pool, family pool, and kids pool. However, only secondary sources give winter hours of 09:30–22:00 from November to April, and these are not confirmed in official information. OTA information says the fitness center and indoor pool are free for guests, but whether He:on is free for guests could not be confirmed. The split into adult, family, and kids pools is similar to The Shilla Jeju's family pool and adult pool, but Shilla is the one with officially confirmed hours. If the winter outdoor heated pool is the goal, ask through the official website or the hotel about the stay date before booking.
Among kids facilities, a kids cafe, bowling alley, and game arcade are mentioned in reviews, but official operating information could not be confirmed. According to the OTA, the sauna is paid, with rates divided into middle-school age and up and elementary age from 37 months, and the fitness club closes on the first Tuesday of each month. The age rules and closing day could not be confirmed in official information, so ask the hotel before visiting. Breakfast is served at La Seine, 07:00–10:30, and the OTA lists the child rate as covering ages 48 months to 13 years.
For airport transfers, OTA guest benefits list a free shuttle. It runs from the airport to the hotel at 15:00 and from the hotel to the airport at 10:00 and 13:00 by reservation, but how long it will operate is not stated. Travelers without a rental car should confirm the shuttle before booking and, if its times do not fit the flight schedule, arrange a limousine or taxi route separately.
One more thing before booking
OTA guest benefits list a free airport shuttle (airport to hotel at 15:00, hotel to airport at 10:00 and 13:00, reservation required), but its operating period could not be confirmed. The OTA also lists the fitness club as closed on the first Tuesday of each month; this could not be confirmed in official information, so ask the hotel before visiting.
